Most genes in plants exist as gene families. Over long periods of evolution, different members of the same gene family undergo mutations in sequence and consequently change in function. In recent years, botanists have been keen to identify and analyze gene family members associated with target traits, effectively promoting research related to plant gene families.
Lifeasible is committed to being the world's leading plant gene family analysis services provider. We have built a high-performance computing platform to provide gene family analysis solutions. Gene family analysis services can provide botanists with information on gene families involved in metabolism, biosynthesis, growth and development, stress, and other life activities.
We offer a comprehensive analysis service for gene families that play a role in plant growth and development, biosynthesis, disease resistance, and adaptation to stressful environments.
Using the protein sequences studied by the client as query sequences, homologous sequences are analyzed in the plant species sequence using Phytozome. Based on the amino acid sequences of the gene families studied, the conserved domains are further identified using Interpro-scan and NCBI-Conserved Domains.
We will then analyze the predicted secondary structure of gene family proteins to obtain the proportion of irregularly coiled, extended chains, alpha-helices, and beta-turned angles and to speculate on the parts of the secondary structure that play a crucial role. Subcellular localization then allows inference of the specific regions of the gene family where the function is achieved.
We use the Gene Structure Display System (GSDS) to analyze the Exon/Intron composition of the plant gene family. This is combined with phylogenetic analysis to explore the patterns of gene family evolution in gene structure. Evolutionary analysis of gene families by protein sequence is also possible using MEGA software.
